Cellulite Velasmooth
Cellulite Velasmooth
Reduce Cellulite with the Proper Diet and Velasmooth
Cellulite treatment through Velasmooth and proper dieting
*originally posted in Long Island Press
Wouldn’t it be great if we could completely eliminate cellulite? Unfortunately, for many women, it’s a fact of life as they age. However, it is possible to help the process along by incorporating a healthy cellulite diet. There are three important factors involved when trying to reduce cellulite: exercise, a healthy diet and drinking a good amount of water everyday.
Of course, no food plan in the world can eliminate all of the cellulite on your body. A good cellulite diet would include healthy lean proteins such as chicken and fish (a good source of essential fatty acids and antioxidants), certain fruits and vegetables known to be high in nutrients (think dark and red fruits, like blue-, black-, straw-, cran- and rasp- berries), citrus fruits (oranges, apples and grapefruits) and red and green veggies (like spinach and peppers). Try to stay away from foods high in fat, including meats, processed foods with sugar, soda and definitely alcohol. It’s not difficult, just try to be sensible in making choices.
Now that you know the dietary key to reducing cellulite, let’s turn to VelaSmooth.
Finally, a cellulite treatment that does what no creams, potions or surgeries have been able to do: It works! VelaSmooth is completely painless, totally non-invasive and amazingly effective. After completing your personalized treatment regimen, you and everyone around you will see a dramatic difference in your skin. VelaSmooth’s new technology works to re-contour your skin, creating a firmer, smoother surface and significantly reducing the appearance of cellulite. Cellulite doesn’t happen on top of your skin; you can’t wipe it away with a cream. Cellulite forms deep within your skin’s inner layers. VelaSmooth uses a combination of deep massage with rollers and suction, infrared and radio energies to treat cellulite where it really helps. It’s the first clinically proven, non-invasive cellulite therapy. During treatment, we apply the VelaSmooth hand piece over the areas to be treated. You can expect it to feel like a deep-tissue massage as the combination of light vacuum suctions, rollers and infrared heat begin to work. Some patients experience a mild pinching sensation on the surface of the skin which can be eliminated by adjusting the tension of the rollers. There are no adverse side effects, and you’ll be able to return to your regular activities right away.
What makes the VelaSmooth so different from other devices on the market is combined heat energy that is delivered to the skin which goes deep and mobilizes fat. The VelaSmooth, in addition to reducing thigh circumference and improving the skin surface irregularities, actually helps to re-contour the areas and gives an improved appearance to the cellulite in general. Patients don’t lose weight but look like they have lost weight because the whole area has been re-contoured!
Breast Augmentation Incision
A Focus on Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation, lifts, enhancement and implants

Breast augmentation patients are women of all ages and walks of life. Each has unique considerations and desires. Some lost breast tissue and size after pregnancy or breast feeding and want the volume back they once had. Others never felt they had adequate size or shape. These individual differences make every procedure unique. But almost uniformly, patients seek a balanced and natural appearance. My cosmetic surgery philosophy is that the best results come from a natural and not “done” look.
Women have many options when they choose breast augmentation. Some of the factors that will affect your outcome are the location of the incision, where the implant is placed, and the style of the implant. My favorite all-around incision is known as the “crease incision” which is smaller than 1 inch, and placed within the crease of the breast. The incision should fade away very nicely, but even if it doesn’t, it’s well hidden within the crease. I believe that most of the time, implants should be placed underneath the muscle for a safe and natural look. A few patients may also choose to have a lift, at the same time as the implants, if their breasts have begun to sag.
Medical advances have made the surgery and recovery often surprisingly easy. The procedure generally takes around one hour. Special bandages and dressings are removed the next day and patients wear a sport-type support bra for about one month after the procedure. It is common for implants to “ride high” on the chest for a while after surgery, and like most procedures, final results are complete after two to three months.
Most patients just need to take a few days off from work and are allowed to begin gentle exercise at about three weeks. Breast augmentation is safe, effective and can produce beautiful results!
Tummy Tuck Surgery
Tummy Tucks or Liposuction What’s Best for your Belly?
Deciding between a tummy tuck or liposuction

“Tummy tuck or liposuction; what’s best for my belly?” is a question women ask me almost daily in my practice. Sometimes all the exercise and dieting in the world can’t get rid of the pouch that results from a lifetime of weight fluctuation or pregnancy. A tummy tuck (also known as abdominoplasty surgery) removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen. Skin elasticity is the main factor in deciding whether a tummy tuck or liposuction works best for a flatter stomach. As a general rule, women in their 40s who have given birth are better candidates for tummy tucks than liposuction. Loose or stretched skin (from childbirth or large weight/loss gain), will simply hang after liposuction, leaving you with a new cosmetic problem.
Women who have had Caesarean childbirth are particularly thrilled with the results of their tummy tuck. Children are, of course, worth every inconvenience, but, later in life, mothers often dislike their stretched abdominal skin, especially if it contains the scar of a Caesarean operation. Creams and exercise are unlikely to help. But a tummy tuck is not only for postpartum women, or just women, for that matter. The procedure can improve the appearance of excess abdominal fat, skin and tissue in any healthy adult. Individual conditions of the abdomen vary, and for that reason there are different techniques to help you achieve a flatter, trimmer waistline. Other causes of a protruding, loose or sagging belly are heredity, other prior abdominal surgeries, significant weight fluctuations or congenital spine abnormalities that affect posture. A hernia bulge or a distinct separation of the abdominal muscles is also not improved with liposuction alone and may require a tummy tuck. If you are planning to lose a lot of weight, abdominoplasty is best after your weight has stabilized. The skin and flesh are then sculpted to your new form. Massive weight loss after abdominoplastymay leave the skin loose again about the belly. Therefore, a tummy tuck should also be performed when you are confident that your pregnant days are over. A tummy tuck is for sculpture, not weight loss. As always, weight loss is better achieved with controlled diet and improved exercise habits.
Cosmetic Surgery Boom
Liposuction, nose jobs, breast augmentation, eyelid surgeries and tummy tucks
*originally posted in Long Island Press
Cosmetic surgery is on the rise, and why not? Medical advances have made both the procedures and recoveries safer than ever. According to the most recent statistics by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), more than 10.2 million cosmetic plastic surgery procedures were performed in the United States in 2005, up 11 percent from the year before. The statistics show that more Americans are willing to invest in anti-aging remedies. For many, cosmetic plastic surgery is the new take on “growing old gracefully.”
The top five surgical procedures were liposuction (324,000), nose reshaping (298,000), breast augmentation (291,000), eyelid surgery(231,000) and tummy tuck (135,000). This is the first time in six years that facelifts did not make the top five surgical procedures, according to ASPS statistics.
The facelift is still a highly sought-after procedure; nearly 109,000 were performed last year. However, the fact that it didn’t make the top five surgical procedures can probably be attributed to increased consumer demand for minimally invasive injectable wrinkle fillers and fighters as a remedy to combat facial aging.
Minimally invasive cosmetic procedures jumped 13 percent to nearly 8.5 million procedures performed in 2005. The top five minimally invasive procedures were Botox injections (3.8 million), chemical peels (1 million), microdermabrasion (838,000), laser hair removal (783,000), and spider vein removal (590,000). This is the fourth consecutive year that these minimally invasive procedures have been ranked in the top five.
- Here are some more fast facts about plastic surgery:
- Women make up 90 percent of cosmetic surgery patients in the U.S.
- Americans age 35-50 have the largest number of procedures.
- Almost 50 percent of procedures are performed in office-based facilities.
- The most common procedures after massive weight loss are liposuction, tummy tucks, lower body lifts, upper arm lifts and thigh lifts.

Cosmetic Plastic Surgery
For people older than 45, the likelihood of have difficulty finding a job is the highest in 15 years, according to data from the U.S. Department of Labor. In fact, job seekers 45 and older spend several more weeks unemployed than younger competitors. So, given this state of affairs, there has been a huge increase in the numbers of cosmetic procedures that are being performed on those people (both men and women) who are job seeking. Those looking for a job often feel that they are competing for jobs with applicants who are younger. The older applicant is often more qualified, but unfortunately may be judged on their appearance and not their skills.
Surgical and non-surgical procedures can make you look substantially younger, potentially opening the door to many job opportunities that might have otherwise gone to younger applicants. Both surgical and non-surgical procedures have seen a considerable increase in recent times. The non-surgical procedures include such things as: micro-dermabrasion, chemical peels, laser peels, Botox, and other new injectables. Other laser procedures such as Refirme, Trinity, and Thermage can help to tighten and rejuvenate the face without invasive procedures. Many techniques can give that quick lunch time lift and have patients back to work in only minutes looking refreshed and younger!
The hottest surgical techniques to make you look younger include eyelid lifts, facelifts, deeper laser resurfacing, and rhinoplasty. The eyelid lift only takes about an hour and can give a very youthful appearance to both the upper and lower lids. Patients after an eyelid lift can go back to work in about five days with minimal discomfort and swelling. A facelift, whether it is mini, lower, or full lift can take years off of facial appearance. A facelift is great way to pull up the excessive skin, rejuvenate the neck and lift the jowls. The downtime with a facelift is between one to two weeks. Mini, or modified facelifts are often performed on much younger patients before the signs of aging are advanced. Overall, the natural look is of utmost importance. We can often combine laser resurfacing procedures and rhinoplasty to complete a full facial rejuvenation.
One of the most important things to consider in facial rejuvenation is to combine a good skin care regimen along with any facial rejuvenation procedure.Cosmetic Surgeon in a Jar is a product line which is specifically designed to reduce the signs of aging. This revolutionary skin care line is enriched with anti-oxidants, peptides, and many other ingredients to get rid of fine lines, wrinkles and age spots. This comprehensive skin care program can take years off of your facial appearance in just a few weeks.
Overall, all of us want to reduce the signs of aging, whether it is for a job search or just to regain the youthful appearance. There are many techniques that can be performed to turn back the hands of time.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What are the most common cosmetic procedures today?
A. The three most common procedures performed around the country by plastic surgeons are breast augmentation, liposuction and nose reshaping. These also happen to be some of the most satisfying procedures for patients to have. If you are thinking about having breast augmentation, you need to know which procedure will have the best results for you; this is done by first choosing the right type of implant. Silicone implants have a more natural look and feel than saline implants because silicone gel has a texture that is similar to breast tissue. Saline implants have some advantages over silicone implants. The breast augmentation is an in office procedure taking less then an hour, with the patients returning to normal activities in 24 hours. Thinking about removing unwanted fat? Liposuction (lipoplasty) is a procedure that can help contour your body by removing this unwanted fat from certain parts of the body, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, arms and chin. Liposuction is not a replacement for diet or exercise, but it helps selected patients get rid of stubborn areas that do not respond to other weight loss methods. With weight loss, the fat cells in your body only shrink – they do not disappear. Liposuction surgery actually removes the fat cells from your body. The newest smart liposuction allows for a better body. If You Are Considering Rhinoplasty (nose surgery)… keep in mind, this surgery is best to: correct the size of the nose, remove the “dorsal hump” or bump on the nose, Change the width of the nose, Define and correct the tip of the nose, it can also help correct structural defects that may cause breathing problems.
Q. What should I know before I undergo breast augmentation?
A. Breast augmentation (augmentation mammaplasty), is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breast. It is best to: Correct and enhance the body contour of a woman who feels that her breast size is too small, Correct a reduction in breast shape or volume after pregnancy, balance a difference in breast size, Lift the breast in a patient with only a minimal droop. I am able to perform breast augmentation in most patients with minimal or no visible scars! There are a variety of incisions that can be used for the procedure, including under the breast (infra-mammary), around the nipple (peri-areolar), under the arm (transaxillary), and through the belly button (transumbilical). The short infra-mammary incision has the advantage of the scar healing exceptionally well. In the majority of patients, the incision cannot be detected. This incision also offers better long-term results and perhaps lower overall complication rates.
Q: Are there choices when thinking about having Liposuction?
A. Yes, there are many different ways a cosmetic surgeon can perform liposuction. Ultrasound assisted lipoplasty, the tumescent technique, Power assisted lipoplasty, Smart lipo. I utilize a unique combination of tumescent liposuction, along with smartlipo. When used together, these methods provide the patient with a smoother contour and a quick recovery, with minimal pain or bruising. There will be a noticeable difference in your body contour almost immediately after liposuction surgery and a small amount of swelling that will continue to subside for a few months after. Your new contour will remain permanent as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle. If you gain weight after your liposuction surgery, the weight will distribute itself evenly throughout your body and will not settle in the same problem areas.
Q. I have been considering having Rhinoplasty, what are the key facts I should be aware of?
A. Nasal surgery can be performed either under general anesthesia or with local anesthesia depending on what needs to be done. Rhinoplasty takes about 1 hour and the patient usually experiences only mild discomfort when recovering. Most often, a “closed” technique is utilized, in which incisions are made inside the nostrils and all work performed through the nostrils only. The incisions are closed with dissolving sutures at the end of the operation. The underlying bone and cartilage is re-shaped giving the nose a natural contour. Many times, your nasal passage may need to be opened, in conjunction with the rhinoplasty, called septoplasty. In many cases, very slight changes to the structure of the nose – sometimes as little as a few millimeters – can produce drastic and pleasing results. Slight bruising and swelling may occur, but will reside in a few days. Usually you are bandaged for about four days, and normal activity can be started in a short period of time.
News On Bariatric Surgery
As we all know, obesity can cause significant health risks. But even being just slightly overweight can add to your discomfort. Diet and exercise are the best ways to help stay healthy and keep in shape. However, as you get closer to your ideal weight, you may desire more defined Body contouring and a little help with those last few inches. As the name suggests, body contouring involves re-shaping undesirable areas of your body. The two most common body contouring techniques are liposuction and abdominoplasty. Liposuction removes localized areas of fat through very small incisions and is followed by rapid recovery. This procedure is especially useful for women and men who are of relatively normal weight but have isolated pockets of fat that cause certain areas of their body to appear disproportionate. These localized fat deposits may be an inherited trait and not responsive to dieting or exercise. Liposuction may be the only way to eliminate these fat deposits. Liposuction also may be used to treat a condition called gynecomastia, or male breast enlargement, which occurs among both teenage and adult males.
While it is possible to undergo liposuction at almost any age, you will obtain the best results if your skin still has enough elasticity to achieve a smooth contour following fat removal. Liposuction can be performed on several areas of the body at the same time, and it can also be done along with other plastic surgery procedures. Newer techniques of liposuction such as Smart Lipo MPX is ideal for the neck, jawline, arms, breasts, “bra fat,” abdomen, “love handles”, “saddle bags,” inner and outer thighs and knees. It is an excellent complement to conventional liposuction, resulting in less swelling and a quicker recovery than older traditional methods of liposuction.Abdominoplasty–better known as a “tummy tuck”–is an operation performed to improve abdominal contour. This procedure is performed when the patient has stretch marks, skin excess or weakening of the abdominal muscles. Most women who have had children will have some laxity of the abdominal wall. The result is a flatter abdominal profile. Liposuction alone cannot treat abdominal wall laxity if it is due to loss of muscle tone. Women and men who have loose abdominal skin and fat that is concentrated in the abdomen can benefit from abdominoplasty. Sometimes these conditions are inherited. In other instances, substantial weight loss may cause abdominal skin to become loose. Abdominoplasty also can tighten muscles that have been separated and weakened by pregnancy. The procedure may somewhat improve the appearance of stretch marks, especially those located below the navel.
