Choosing Material, Shape, Size, and More
During your breast implant consultation, Long Island plastic surgeon Stephen Greenberg can help you determine which kind of breast implant will give you the bust line you desire.
No two women desire the same results from breast augmentation. That’s why breast implants are available in a variety of sizes, shapes, textures, filling materials, and consistencies. Every variation of breast implant can have a tremendous effect on how your enhanced bust line will feel and appear. If you are considering breast augmentation, the chances are good that you have already conducted extensive research about your breast implant options, and that you have some idea of which one will best meet your goals. However, a face-to-face consultation with Dr. Greenberg is a crucial part of your journey to aesthetic enhancement, and will help you make a supremely informed decision about which breast implants will give you the greatest satisfaction. If you are considering breast augmentation, contact our Long Island practice to schedule a breast implant consultation with Dr. Greenberg.
Your Breast Implant Consultation
During your breast implant consultation, you and Dr. Greenberg will discuss several aspects of the enhanced bust line you envision, including:
Size: Breast implants are available in a range of sizes from 125cc to 1200cc. Which breast implant size is most appropriate in your case will depend on your current breast size, and the breast size you wish to achieve. Dr. Greenberg can also make recommendations based on your frame so that you can achieve bust enlargement, in addition to comfort and a natural appearance.
Shape: Breast implants are typically either round or teardrop shaped. Teardrop-shaped implants are intended to create a very natural appearance. Many women find that round implants also achieve a natural appearance, while others feel that the results achieved with teardrop-shaped implants are more effective in achieving the enhancement they desire. On the other hand, it is important to consider that breast implants shift within the breast; if a teardrop-shaped implant experiences too great of a shift, it can cause the breast to adopt an undesirable shape.
Material: Saline and silicone are the two primary choices for breast implant materials. Traditionally, the silicone in a breast implant has a thick liquid consistency. In February 2013, the FDA approved “gummy bear implants,” silicone implants with a much more solid consistency throughout, much like their namesake candy. While most agree that traditional silicone implants provide the most natural feel, they are also the most difficult to remove in the instance of a rupture. Saline, on the other hand, is harmlessly absorbed into the body if a rupture occurs. Gummy bear implants have the very lowest risk of rupture, but some women believe that their marked firmness does not provide a natural feel.
Dr. Greenberg prides himself on providing women with precisely the bust line they desire. During your consultation, he will take careful note of your goals and provide expert recommendations. To schedule your breast implant consultation, contact our Long Island office serving Manhattan and Woodbury.
