ABOUT Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid Surgery Long Island
If your eyelids have begun to sag or droop, eyelid surgery performed by Stephen T. Greenberg, M.D., F.A.C.S at his offices serving Long Island, Manhattan, the greater New York City area, and now serving Boca Raton, FL can help you achieve a rested and rejuvenated look.
Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure done to remove the fat and extra skin from your upper and lower eyelids, also known as “eyelid surgery”. The eyelids are often the telling sign of a person’s age! Dr. Greenberg uses state-of-the-art technology and lasers to correct your droopy upper lids and puffy bags below your eyes. As we age, we begin to develop droop or “puffy” eyelids. This process starts in the 30’s and 40’s and progresses with the aging process. These changes usually occur because over the years, the eyelid skin thins, loses tone, and becomes more susceptible to gravity. The fat pockets gradually herniate forward which can cause bags in both the upper and lower eyelid. As you age, your eyes look more baggy and tired. If You are Considering an Eyelid Lift
A blepharoplasty is the best eyelid surgery to:
- Tighten droopy or hooded eyelids
- Restore contour to the lids
- Eliminate unwanted fatty bags under your eyes
- Correct asymmetries between the eyelids
Your Eyelid Lift Consultation…
Dr. Greenberg takes time evaluating each patient to decide what can be done to improve the look of your eyes. Together, you and Dr. Greenberg will decide whether you will have your upper and lower lids corrected or just the upper lids or lower lids. Dr. Greenberg will review your specific needs and desires to restore a youthful appearance to your face and eyelids. Eyelid surgery must be specifically tailored to each individual depending upon their anatomy and the condition of their eyelids. For example, some patients need only to have their lower lids improve, and others need both upper and lower eyelids. Sometimes patients only need to have skin removed, and others need both skin and fat removed. Eyelid surgery will not significantly improve “crows feet” or fine lines and wrinkles, but can often be combined with a light laser resurfacing to take care of these other problems.

Look Rested and Alert
Dr. Greenberg is a board certified plastic surgeon who is an expert in cosmetic eyelid surgery. He can combine eyelid surgery with other cosmetic facial procedures, but in many cases the procedure is done alone. Dr. Greenberg has offices in New York City (Manhattan) and Long Island where he performs eyelid surgery to help his patients look well rested, alert, and more youthful following their New York blepharoplasty procedure.
Your Eyelid Surgery
An eyelid lift can help rejuvenate your entire face by removing excess fat and skin from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid lifts can be performed with no visible external incisions. Laser surgery can often be performed simultaneously to smooth out any fine lines and wrinkles which help optimize results. Patients are often able to return to work after only several days with most of the bruising and swelling have resolved. The exact position of the incision and procedure will be individualized to meet the specific needs of each patient. When a traditional blepharoplasty is performed, an incision is made along the lash line for the lower eyelid, and the excess skin and fat are removed. Once healed, there are no visible incisions. The upper eyelid incision is made in the crease of the upper lids, which usually fades away in a rapid fashion. The sutures are usually removed in about 4-5 days, and the swelling and discoloration around your eyes will gradually subside over the first week. The results will be long lasting and you will continue to have follow-up visits with Dr. Greenberg at his Manhattan or Long Island office to ensure optimum long-term results.
