A tummy tuck is certainly one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures in the United States, and it’s best for those people who have extra skin and fat on the abdominal wall. Those patients who have gained and lost a lot of weight or have had children tend to get stretched out. So what a tummy tuck does, is removes that extra skin and fat, at the same time allows me to tighten up the abdominal wall muscles. I perform many of these on a weekly basis, and they come out great. The patience are unbelievably happy, with the abdomen is really flat when it is all done. Recovery time for a tummy tuck is usually about a week or ten days off from normal activities, and the patients are usually up a day or two after surgery. A tummy tuck is one of the procedures where you can look down the recovery room and the patient will say, “Wow, that is unbelievable that you can do that.” It’s just about an hour and a half procedure, and most of the time is performed in my office ambulatory center. The patience go home the same day. Pain is minimal for about a day or two, and they take plenty of pain medicine. I have a special recovery program for my tummy tuck patients where they are not in a lot of discomfort, and they can really get through this very quickly and very easily.
