Years ago when patients wanted to be rejuvenated, surgery was the only method to do it. Now there are so many injectables that I use on a daily basis, not only Botox, and that works for the fine lines and wrinkles of the forehead, the 11 Lines and the crow’s feet, but other injectables like Juvederm, Radiesse, Restylane, and a whole host of other injectables that I use, help to fill the face in those area that we’ve lost volume over time. For instance, the laugh lines, the marionette lines, the cheekbones, and sometimes even the chin. The injectables allow me to give a non-surgical approach to rejuvenate the face. I often will re-create a jaw line in somebody who has a little bit of a jowl. I’ll give a cheekbone in somebody who has lost the volume as we age. Injectables are not only for older patients, but a lot of young patients as well take advantage of a lot of the injectables that I’m doing. Very often in a younger person, they come in for lip plumping where I inject a little Juvederm into the lips, or to get rid of a bump on the nose by doing an injection. The type of things that we can do with injectables now is so extensive. We can work miracles with injections and decrease the signs of aging without undergoing a cosmetic surgery procedure. Most of these injectables that we’re using now are not permanent solutions. Patients come to me two or three times a year and they want those areas filled back up again so it’s not like a surgical procedure that may last years. It’s a procedure that we kind of have to keep up on over time, but we could get absolutely remarkable results with injectables without surgery.
